FT 3000 Fatigue Tester
Advanced tester for flex cracking, crack growth, tension fatigue and bending fatigue in rubber compounds
The FT 3000 is a fatigue tester of advanced design, providing a full test which indicates material properties such flex cracking/crack growth and tension/bending fatigue.
The instrument is designed in accordance with ISO 132, ISO 6943, ASTM D 430-B, ASTM D 813; DIN 53 522 -1/2/3.
The instrument is designed for continuous operation in applications such as in-process quality control in rubber plants and other areas requiring repetitive testing of rubber samples, such as compound development.
Due to the linear motor design and optional CCD system, the machine can easily be set-up and adapted to individual customer testing needs.
The direct drive, linear motor drive system with digital control and inline position measurement ensures extremely precise movements, high durability and long lifetime, as well as low levels of noise and vibrations.
The instrument is constructed with a massive, stainless steel sample holder system.
Optionally, samples can be inspected with a motorized camera CCD system for cracks and crack growth measurement. The CCD camera system also includes the MonFT data acquisition software.
Configuration & Control
According to the test method and the type of sample, the test cycle can be configured by the user:
- Frequency between 0.1 and 5 Hz.
- Stroke between 0 and 60 mm.
- Distance of the grips up to 100 mm.
- Cycles before automatic stop
- Up to 16 simultaneous samples
- This instrument can be used for Tension
as well as Bending (De Mattia) Fatigue.
The sample holding system is located in a thermal chamber. This heating and cooling chamber can hold temperatures set between -40°C and +180°C.
The instrument is controlled using a 4.5” color touch screen display. Using the display unit, the testing process can be started, paused, and stopped . The following functions are incorporated in the display:
- Input number of set cycles
- Input set temperature in °C / °F
- Set motor speed in strokes per minute
- Number of cycles done
- Current chamber temperature
- Actual motor speed / position
- Cycles to next pause
- Cycles since last pause
- Safety protection doors fitted with safety switch
- Thermal switch
- Motor controller with torque overload control
- Crack growth recording with integrated CCD Camera through heated safety window and MonFT operating software (Optional).
- Automated lateral camera traversed by stepper drive
MonFT Software (Optional)
MonFT Software is used in conjunction with the FT 3000 linear drive rubber fatigue testing system equipped with digital CCD camera option. The MonFT software allows full crack growth measurement in De-Mattia / bending testing mode as well as camera and position control.
Before a test can be started, the rubber samples need to be identified in the software, the sample needs to be acquired by semi-automated camera positioning, and camera recording needs to be set. Manual movement of the camera is possible.
By setting the image section, the sample and the crack area can be defined in the live image. Also test images can be taken.
MonFT allows you to remotely control the FT 3000 Fatigue Tester.
During the test, the fatigue sequence is paused in adjustable cycles. Then the camera automatically moves to the pre-programmed sample positions to inspect the samples.
At each station, the rubber sample is measured, the picture is transformed and the image is automatically inspected for holes and cracks according to the camera setup.
During the test sequence an online graph for all samples is shown, providing full information about crack growth and number of cycles performed.
